Chris Sarandon is a talented actor who has made a name for himself on both stage and screen. Born in Beckley, West Virginia in 1942, Sarandon grew up in a family of artists. His mother was a master of needlework and his father was an executive at a clothing company. Sarandon's interest in acting began in high school where he participated in school plays. He went on to study theater at West Virginia University before moving to New York City to pursue a career in acting.
Sarandon made his Broadway debut in 1970 in the play "The Rose Tattoo" alongside Maureen Stapleton. He went on to appear in several other Broadway productions, including "Two Gentlemen of Verona" and "The Rothschilds." In 1975, he earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance in "The Rothschilds."
In addition to his success on stage, Sarandon has had a successful career in film. He is perhaps best known for his role as Prince Humperdinck in the classic film "The Princess Bride." He has also appeared in other notable films such as "Dog Day Afternoon," "Fright Night," and "Child's Play." Sarandon has also lent his voice to several animated films, including "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "The Lion King II: Simba's Pride."
Sarandon has also had success on television. He has appeared in several popular television shows, including "Law & Order," "The Good Wife," and "The Strain." He also had a recurring role on the hit series "ER."
Despite his success in film and television, Sarandon has always remained passionate about theater. In 2005, he returned to Broadway to star in the play "The Light in the Piazza." He received critical acclaim for his performance and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play.
