Diane (doubles as Crystal and Brenda): A traditional divorcee from Texas, who is terrified that her son may have been flying at the time of the attacks. When she finds out that he’s safe, she’s given a new lease on life and discovers a wilder, more carefree side of herself. Female presenting, Age Range: 50s. Vocal: Warm, natural contemporary soprano with strong mix to D.

Hannah (doubles as Margie, Mickey, Party Girl): The mother of a firefighter in Manhattan, Hannah waits for news about her son and is comforted by Beulah. As the party girl, would need to discuss scripted moment of “flashing the audience.” Female-presenting, Age Range: 40s-60s. Vocal: Contemporary Soprano with strong pop belt and mix to E.

Janice (doubles as Flight Attendant, Britney, Party Girl): An eager new local TV reporter, Janice is thrown into the deep end on her first day. Initially naïve about the world, Janice must face the pain and confusion around her. As the party girl, would need to discuss scripted moment of “flashing the audience.” Female-presenting, age range: 20’s. Vocal: Contemporary soprano/mezzo with strong pop belt and mix to D.

Beulah (doubles as Delores, Customs Officer): The head of the Gander Legion, with a firefighter son, who walks Hannah to her church and prays with her. Female-presenting, age range: 40s-60s. Vocal: Mezzo with belt to B.

Bonnie (doubles as Martha): A no-nonsense mother of 3, Bonnie is the head of the Gander area SPCA. When she discovers animals are trapped on the plane, she stops at nothing to ensure their safety – but in frustration, she often lashes out at those around her. Female-presenting, age range: 30s-40s. Vocal: Mezzo with belt to B.

Beverley (doubles as Annette): Beverley – The first female captain for American Airlines. Pilot Beverley Bass has always loved flying, and then her world suddenly changes. Annette – A local teacher at the Gander Academy and mother to a lot of children. Female-presenting, age range: 40s-50s. Vocal: Strong singer with an easy mixed or belted C#.

Oz (doubles as Joey, Customs Officer, Mr. Michaels, Terry, Matty, Rabbi, Head Cardiologist): The quirky constable in the two-person Gander police force. When the town’s population suddenly doubles, Oz helps in unexpected ways. Male-presenting, Age Range: 30s-50s. Vocal: Strong contemporary tenor.

Kevin T (doubles as Garth, President Bush): Kevin T – The head of an environmental energy company in Los Angeles, Kevin was on vacation with his boyfriend (and secretary, also named Kevin), when they are stranded in Gander. Inspired by the town’s generosity, Kevin creates the Pay It Forward Foundation. Garth – The head of the local union, representing the Bus Drivers. Male-presenting, age range: 30s-40s. Vocal: Strong contemporary tenor.

Kevin J (doubles as Ali, Dwight): Kevin T’s boyfriend and secretary. Sarcastic and unhappy, he wants to leave as soon as possible. The character Ali is of Middle Eastern descent. Male presenting, age range: 30s-40s. Vocal: Tenor or baritenor.

Bob (doubles as Muhumuza, Captain Bristol): A hardened New Yorker, Bob is suspicious of where he’s landed, fearing that it’s World War 3, that someone is going to shoot him and steal his wallet – but instead, he ends up losing his New York jadedness. The character Muhumuza is of African descent. Male-presenting, age range: 20s-40s. Vocal: Baritone.

Claude (doubles as Derm, Brenda’s Brother, Eddie): The gregarious and well-liked Mayor of Gander, Newfoundland, Claude loves his work, the townspeople and his daily traditions, but he’s never had to deal with a crisis of this magnitude before. Male-presenting, age range: 40s-60s. Vocal: Gruff, natural sounding baritone with a strong high G.

Nick (doubles as Doug, Male Townsperson): Nick – An English oil engineer who is focused on his work, Nick’s life is turned upside down when he falls for Diane. Doug - An Air Traffic controller, married to Bonnie who tries to help his wife and the animals. Male-presenting, age range: 40s-50s. Vocal: Warm, natural baritone or baritenor with an easy E and strong pop sensibility.

Juicy: is different. He’s a sensitive soul stuck in a world that plays rough. He is well-read and quick-witted, but deeply misunderstood. And he is beautiful, even when the world and he, himself say otherwise. A kind of Hamlet. Ethnicity Black/African-American, Male-presenting, Stage age range 20-21.

Tedra: is Juicy's mother. Where Juicy is water, she is the hottest fire. She burns with passion for love and life. She thrives on entertaining and pleasing her people, but she burns for no one more fiercely than she does her son. A kind of Gertrude. Ethnicity Black/African-American, Female-presenting, Stage age range 45-50.

Rev: is Tedra’s new husband and her dead ex-husband’s brother. Pig farmer and pit master. Electric. Proud. Demands respect. The biggest man in the room. A smooth-talker with a mean streak and a short temper. Likes to play with his food. A kind of Claudius. Also plays Pap. Ethnicity Black/African-American, Male-presenting, Stage age range 45-50.

Opal: is Juicy’s sister from another mister, and one of his only friends. Rabby’s daughter, more butch than femme. She’s got wild vision and big dreams for herself, even if everybody else thinks she’s crazy. She loves Juicy and worries about him. A kind of Ophelia. Ethnicity Black/African-American, Female-presenting, Stage age range 19-20.

Larry: is Juicy’s childhood friend. A marine just returned home, he appears the perfect son: earnest, respectful, and the picture of masculine physique. But he has a secret. He’s a bit awkward, and trying to heal from PTSD. A kind of Laertes. Ethnicity Black/African-American, Male-presenting, Stage age range 21-23.

Rabby: is Larry and Opal’s mother. Tedra’s friend. She’s churchy, but honestly she just wants to drink and praise the Lord. She knows what’s best for everybody else, and it’s her way or the highway. A kind of Polonius. Ethnicity Black/African-American, Female-presenting, Stage age range 40-45.

SISTER ACT

DELORIS VAN CARTIER: An aspiring performer trying to find both fame and a place in the world. When forced to hide in the convent, she initially refuses to embrace her new lifestyle but learns to embrace it when she works with the choir. Female-presenting, Ethnicity Black/ African American, Stage age range 25-35. Vocal range F#5-E3.

MOTHER SUPERIOR: The head of the convent, sarcastic and a bit stiff. She is highly protective about keeping her sisters away from the outside world, which puts her in direct opposition to Deloris and her musical teachings. Female-presenting, Stage age range 50-70. Vocal Range E5-D3. This role is cast.

SISTER MARY ROBERT: A postulant, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy and soft-spoken but singing with Deloris lets her find her voice. Her wallflower lifestyle has made her live a shell of a life. Female-presenting, Stage age range 16-25. Vocal Range A5-F#3.

SISTER MARY PATRICK: A nun of the convent. Consistently perky, enthusiastic, and easily excitable. Female-presenting, Stage age range 35-50.

SISTER MARY LAZARUS: A nun of the convent and the head of the choir. Rather deadpan and the least welcoming of any of the nuns, she gets caught up in Deloris’s soul music. Female-presenting, Stage age range 50-70. Vocal Range B4-F3.

ERNIE / MONSIGNOR O’HARA: ERNIE: One of Curtis’s thugs. Initially thought to be a mindless yes-man, he turns out to be an undercover police informant. Male-presenting O’HARA: One of the heads of the convent. He is constantly concerned with financial matters, though soul music surprisingly puts him in a different mood. Male-presenting, Stage age range 45-60. Vocal Range G4-E3.

CURTIS: A club owner, notorious gangster, and Deloris’s boyfriend. Cocky and controlling, always on the verge of violence. Male-presenting, Stage age range 30-40. Vocal Range Ab4-A2.

EDDIE SOUTHER: The desk chief at the Philadelphia police station and a high school classmate of Deloris who helps get her into hiding. Faces a lot of nerves when under pressure, causing him to sweat profusely. He still yearns for Deloris after all these years, and dreams of being her hero. Male-presenting, Stage age range 25-35. Vocal Range B4-Ab2.

TJ: Curtis’s nephew and one of his thugs. Deft and cognizant of the fact, constantly in a state of ignorant bliss. Male-presenting, Stage age range 16-30. Vocal Range Eb5-Db3.

JOEY: One of Curtis’s thugs. Believes himself to be quite the ladies’ man. Male-presenting, Stage age range 30-40. Vocal Range Eb5-Bb2.

PABLO: One of Curtis’s thugs. A natural follower, he constantly speaks in Spanish. Male-presenting, Stage age range 25-40. Vocal Range F5-C4.

SISTER MARY MARTIN-OF-TOURS: A nun of the convent. She is in her own world, but she has moments of surprising clarity. Female-presenting, Stage age range 40-60.

SISTER MARY THERESA: A nun of the convent, the oldest of the group. Decrepit at a glance but secretly packs a punch. Female-presenting, Stage age range 60-70.

MICHELLE / ENSEMBLE: One of Deloris’s backup singers. Lippy and always quick with a retort. Female-presenting, Stage age range 20-30. Vocal Range F5-Bb3. Will double as a nun.

TINA/ ENSEMBLE: One of Deloris’s backup singers. A little thick and naive. Female-presenting, Stage age range 20-30. Vocal Range: F5-Ab3. Will double as a nun.
