QUICK POLL
What do you think of the term showtune to describe songs from musical theatre?
Its an inappropriate and derogatory term.
Its a little too casual.
It applies well to some theatre songs but not for others.
It's perfectly fine.
Its so derogatory that were taking back the word and reclaiming it! Those who love musicals can freely refer to them as showtunes, but those who dont know Jerry Herman from Stephen Sondheim better not!
