After receiving the prestigious Honorary Palme d’Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Meryl Streep revealed that she soon has a meeting with Universal about returning for the highly-anticipated third entry in the Mamma Mia! franchise. She also expressed her concern with the nature of her return, as it was revealed that her character, Donna Sheridan, had passed away after the events of the first film.

According to reports, The Thursday Letter Club, the upcoming film from Chris Columbus, has found a distributor. Netflix will partner with Steven Spielberg's company Amblin Entertainment on the film, which stars Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley. Filming will begin in the UK this June and end in September.
