Lane and Bonnie Comley hosted a celebration at their East Hampton estate for Bay Street Theater, honoring Mercedes Ruehl and Harris Yulin. Ruehl and Yulin were honored with Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center For The Arts's Joel Grey Lifetime Achievement Award as actors and for their many years of support for the East End's arts community.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the return of Music Mondays; the hit summer cabaret series that invites renowned artists and Tony Award-winners to perform for audiences and share stories of their time on and off the stage.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2022, Bay Street had a kickoff cocktail party celebrating the start of their Summer season! Hosted by Tracy Mitchell with creatives from bay Street's first summer Production, Windfall, Emmy nominated composer and writer of Windfall Richard Kind, and comedy legend and director Jason Alexander. Artistic Director Scott Schwartz, Board members, and patrons all gathered by the water to celebrate the return after two years of virtual or socially distanced shows. Both Scott Schwartz and Tracy Mitchell spoke at the party about the upcoming season and marked the true return to theatre at Bay Street!

Performing these Lerner and Loewe classics are Tony Award nominee Jenn Colella (Come From Away); Aaron Lazar; Jose Llana (The King and I); Michael Maliakel (Aladdin); Aisha Jackson (Frozen); Sean Thompson (Sunset Boulevard); and Bayla Whitten (West End’s Les Misérables). According to a Deadline article, acclaimed costume and set designer Tony Walton has passed away at the age of 87. He died on March 2nd from issues related to a stroke. Bridget LeRoy, his stepdaughter, released the news of his death on Facebook, writing, “A fond and loving farewell to the most fabulous stepdad and human being in the world. Love you forever, Tony Walton. Have a great trip.”

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced that legendary stage and screen actress Julie Andrews and Bay Street cofounder Emma Walton Hamilton have signed on to join Story Time, an eight-part program of children's book readings, read out loud by the authors themselves. 

Friends of Bay Street, the group formed to build Bay Street Theater a new home, have hired Stephen Hamilton as the new Director of External Affairs. He comes to this position with many years as a successful arts administrator, as well as being one of the original co-founders of Bay Street Theater itself. Most recently, he served as the Acting Executive Director of the Sag Harbor Cinema.

The Bay Street Theater announced today that it is creating its first purpose-built home that will feature multiple theaters and spaces for the development of new work, dedicated education facilities, and outdoor performance and public spaces.
