The culmination of VHO's 2020 Breaking the Sound Barrier workshop, Orpheus and Erica is a fully-staged, full-length Deaf opera production. Taking the themes of the Orpheus myth into the 21st century, we witness a young couple (played by prominent deaf stars of film, television and stage, John Maucere and Amber Zion) battle illness and fertility, intervening with fate using modern medicine, in the hands of Warren “Wawa” Snipe as their doctor.

Inspired by Martha Baillie’s novel The Incident Report, multi-media artist Naomi Jaye has brought MIRIAM’S WORLD to Passe Muraille. In this approximately 20-minute video installation, the theatre is transformed into a library, where interactions between projections of a librarian and patrons make us think about the dwindling nature of public space.

This December, Theatre Passe Muraille transforms into a public library for MIRIAM'S WORLD by Naomi Jaye. An interactive, multi-screen narrative experience, MIRIAM'S WORLD will take over the Passe Muraille Mainspace from December 9th to 18th. (Media night: December 10th)

Britt Lower (Severance [recent 2022 Hollywood Critics Association’s Best Actress Award winner], High Maintenance), Tom Mercier (Synonyms, We Are Who We Are), Jean Yoon (Kim’s Convenience) and Sook-Yin Lee (Shortbus) will star in the drama/thriller/romance THE INCIDENT REPORT. The film is an adaptation of the novel written by Martha Baillie.

Theatre Passe Muraille has unveiled its soul-stirring 22.23 season, platforming new and compelling interdisciplinary work from a diverse range of voices. The eclectic season begins with a Festival presentation, which then gives way to a robust seven-production line-up.

When Tom (a man in a normative body) begins to date Helen (a fat woman) his colleagues at the office are confused and alarmed. As Tom and Helen’s relationship deepens, the voices of  judgement in Tom’s head become louder.

Victory Hall Opera, in conjunction with UVA's Disability Studies Symposium, will present a one-of-a-kind exploration of Deaf Opera: 'Breaking The Sound Barrier: Deaf Opera Workshop,' featuring scenes from Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites. The performance will take place in Charlottesville at Old Cabell Hall on the campus of The University of Virginia on February 27th at 7pm. Admission is free.

Returning to MetroStage for its tenth anniversary, ROOMS: A ROCK ROMANCE boasts an enthusiastic two-person cast and energetic backing band. It's exactly as described, a simple girl-meets-boy tale steeped in 1970s musical flair. But instead of boiling the romance down to timeless emotion, the book's simplicity and pat ending make this a bit of a tough sell.
