I can't believe there's not already a thread on this, but try as I might I couldn't find one. Anyhoo, we went last night and for what it's worth, this is a marvellously gory, crowd-pleasing Macbeth for the Call of Duty generation. James McAvoy makes a fine king, but it is Jamie Ballard that steals the acting honours with a sensitive multi-layered Macduff.The set comes across like a SAW movie, and the costumes like Mad Mac - The Woad Warrior. Of course there isn't a thread for it. It's not a musical. As you well know WOS is where the play going audience goes...

Macbeth is my absolute favourite Shakespeare ever and I'm looking forward to eventually seeing this production. Jamie Lloyd certainly knows how to stage a pretty production, but I will reserve judgement for when I eventually get to see it.

It'll be the first Shakespeare Ive seen twice.
