About the show:
Mercy Seat by Neil LaBute
Directed by Danielle Young
September 11th - October 4th, 2009
Set on September 12, 2001, The Mercy Seat continues Neil LaBute's unflinching fascination with the often-brutal realities of the war between the sexes. In a time of national tragedy, the world changes overnight. A man and a woman explore the choices now available to them in an existence different from the one they had lived just The Day Before. Can one be opportunistic in a time of universal selflessness?

Getting Your MFA: The Pros and Cons of Going to Graduate School
Here are some questions to ponder when considering whether to go back to school for your MFA.
Every winter a new group of actors, both young graduates and those who have been out for a while trying to make a go of it, grapple with the question, “Should I or should I not go to graduate school to get my MFA.”Often, they’ll consult with their more successful peers, former teachers, family and friends in order to gather up opinions. They’re looking for a direct yes or no answer that they can then add to their collection, hoping that eventually the scale will tip one way or the other. If they’re lucky, they’ll have an older actor ask them, “Well, tell me why you want to go in the first place?” Their response will probably be a mixture of confusion, frustration, desperation and hope, all rolled into one.

Slampooned! by Single Carrot Theatre
Directed by Aldo Pantoja
From The Ensemble that brought you the critically-acclaimed comedy smash Sects and Violins comes a high energy, spirited satire about a group of amateur poets on a quest to infiltrate the world of slam. Slam, a style of poetry meant for performance and competition, offers this group of rag-tag writers a chance at glory under the national spotlight. Haiku battles, pen-hurlers, and unquestionably unqualified judges await them in this side-splitting roast of America's favorite Bohemian past time.
