INTO THE WOODS NOTRE DAME PREP SCHOOL 11/8-11/10/2012
An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A
Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all
among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine
and Stephen Sondheim's
fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been
cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest
for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying
to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one
who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone's wish is granted at the end of
Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them
later, with disastrous results. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy
in the style of The Princess Bride becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children. One of Sondheim's most popular works, INTO THE WOODS is a timeless yet relevant piece and a rare modern classic.

1776 PASADENA THEATRE COMPANY 11/11-11/11/2012
The seminal event in American history blazes to vivid life in this most
unconventional of Broadway hits. It's the summer of 1776, and the
nation is ready to declare independence... if only our founding fathers
can agree to do it! 1776 follows John Adams of Massachusetts,
Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Richard Henry Lee and Thomas
Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince the members of the
second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles
of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence.brbr1776
puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the
national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming,
often petty and ultimately noble figures determined to do the right
thing for a fledgling nation.brbrThe show features a striking score
by Sherman Edwards, which is modest in its vocal requirements, and a
book by Peter Stone, which is legendary in its craftsmanship. 1776 is
a funny, insightful and compelling drama.nbsp; brbrspan style="font-weight: bold;"1776 Staged Concert Version/spanbrThe MTI Marquee provides a

Andrew Jackson in Broadway" border="0" height="100" width="100" align="right">
BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson MARYLAND ENSEMBLE THEATRE 10/18-11/11/2012
BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson creators Michael Friedman and Alex Timbers cook up an alternate universe (and draw parallels to today's political/populist landscape) with their musical about the seventh U.S. president, reinvented as an "emo" rock star. BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson tells the story of America's first political maverick. A.J. kicked British butt, shafted the Indians and smacked down the Spaniards all in the name of these United States--who cares if he didn't have permission? An exhilarating and white-knuckled look at one of our nation's founding rock stars, BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson recreates and reinvents the life of "Old Hickory," from his humble beginnings on the Tennessee frontier to his days as Commander-in-Chief. It also asks the question, is wanting to have a beer with someone reason enough to elect him? What if he's really, really hot? This wildly entertaining 90-minute show is perfect for comedic actors and singers, with minimal dancing required. BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson is an actor driven rather than design-dependent musical; it encourages breaking the fourth wall, audience participation, and rocking out!

Rodgers & Hammerstein's first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today. Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant OKLAHOMA!Music by Rodgers, Richard; Book by Oscar Hammerstein II; Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II; Original Dances by Agnes De Mille; Based on the play `Green Grow the Lilacs` by Lynn RiggsFor more information on 2nd Star Productions, click hereFor more information on Oklahoma!, click here
