Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company, will present its first show of the 2012-2013 season: Rikki Tikki Tavi, a fun and exciting story of a little mongoose keeping his garden safe from two vicious cobras.

Rikki Tikki Tavi tells the story of a mongoose who is adpopted by a family after they rescue him from a flood. Rikki Tikki Tavi is courageous, protective, and can defend the family's garden from sneaky cobras with his agile body and speedy feet. Rikki befriends the family's young son Teddy, and soon two cobras decide they want the garden for themselves. Rikki must save the family's beloved garden and his new friend Teddy from the conniving cobras.

Rikki Tikki Tavi, a children's book by Rudyard Kipling, is adapted for the stage by Sarah Shulman, the author of last season's musical adventure The Young Olympians and the Most Amazingly Awesome Adventure Ever, and is directed by The Fun Company's Artistic Director Julie Heber. The cast features MET company member Ashley Hall and three other actors, Katie Rattigan, Courtney McLaughlin and Tim Eichelberger, that will be familiar to Maryland Ensemble audiences from previous appearance in numerous shows.

All performances of Rikki Tikki Tavi are at Maryland Ensemble Theatre, located in the historic FSK Hotel at 31 W Patrick Street. The show runs every Saturday from September 15 to October 7 at 2 p.m., and there are two Sunday performances on September 30 and October 7 at 2 p.m. Tickets $12 (plus a $1.50 service fee), and may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org or in person at the MET box office.

The Fun Company's 2012-2013 season includes three other shows: Commedia Puss in Boots by Lane Riosley, My Monster and Me by Devin Gaither, and Dakota Kane and the Quest for the Golden Mole by Matt Lee.

The Fun Company seeks to provide high quality, affordable theatre for the whole family that is both educational and entertaining by presenting a yearly Family Theatre Series, an In School Productions outreach program and Fun Camp. The 2012-13 Fun Company season is made possible in part through the support of season sponsors PNC Bank and GTI Federal.
