HCAC to Participate in National Arts and Humanities Month This October

The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is joining Americans for the Arts and arts agencies across the nation in encouraging people to celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) by supporting the arts in their local communities during the month of October.

HCAC will honor NAHM by hosting a special reception on October 26th for Art Maryland 2012, a biennial juried exhibit featuring regional artists. The reception will take place from 6–8pm at the Howard County Center for the Arts and will include remarks by exhibit juror Philippa Hughes, founder and Chief Creative Contrarian for the Pink Line Project.

Coordinated by Americans for the Arts, National Arts and Humanities Month is designed to encourage Americans to explore new facets of the arts and humanities in their lives and to begin a lifelong habit of active participation in the arts and humanities. This month-long celebration grew out of National Arts Week, which Americans for the Arts, along with the National Endowment for the Arts, began in 1985. More information about National Arts and Humanities Month is available online at www.AmericansForTheArts.org/nahm.
