Cecil College's Milburn Stone Theatre to Present 9 TO 5, Now thru 2/10

Milburn-Stone-Theatre-to-Present-9-TO-5-20010101

The Milburn Stone Theatre on Cecil College's North East campus will be transformed into a volatile 1970s office when "9 to 5" is presented Feb. 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10.

Nominated for Tony Awards for its score and leading performances, the new musical is based on the hit Dolly Parton film of the same name. Three unlikely friends and co-workers, Violet Newstead, Doralee Rhodes and Judy Bernley, played by Marji Eldreth, Rebekah Latshaw and Jayne Lewis, respectively, team up against their sexist boss, Franklin Hart Jr., played by Ryan Wagner, and prove there is nothing that determined women cannot do in a man's world. Shenanigans ensue, as they did in the 70s, when the trio plot and carry out their hilarious revenge.

Wagner's voice should be very well known to baseball fans in the region. Selected from a field of more than 670 applicants, he completed his initial season as the public address announcer for the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. The previous year, Wagner was a resident of Major League Baseball's Fan Cave in New York City.

Director S. Lee Lewis has assembled a talented cast of performers to join Eldreth, Latshaw, Lewis and Wagner, including Suzette Burgess as Roz Keith, Andrew Mitchell as Joe, Drew Scott as Dwayne Rhodes, Gannon Webb as Josh Newstead, Melanie Bishop as Missy Hart, Amy Luchey as Kathy, Cindy Mulvey as Margaret, Shelby Smith as Maria, Tim Koob as Bob Enright, and Ryan Milliner as Dick Bernley.

In addition, the ensemble will consist of Miranda Daviduk, Jenny Davies, Chris Davis, Danielle Finlay, Charlie Johnson, Johanna Jones, John Mulvey, Katrina Obarski, Matt Peterson, Andrew Reed Jr., Jenni Shammel, Paula Smith, Shelby Smith, Ashley Weeks, Erik Williams, Kelly Ann Wolfe, and Christy Wyatt.

Recommended for all ages, "9 to 5" begins at 8 p.m. Feb. 1, 2, 8 and 9 and at 3 p.m. Feb. 3 and 10. Tickets, which are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for children 12 and younger, and $5 for college students with a valid ID, can be purchased by phone at 410-287-1037, at the Milburn Stone Theatre box office, or online at www.milburnstone.org. The box office, located at One Seahawk Drive at Cecil College in North East, Md., is open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
