CENTERSTAGE and Baltimore Performance Kitchen have launched Pub Labs, a series of readings and events designed as a platform for Baltimore performing artists of all disciplines to showcase, workshop, and explore new artistic ideas-beer in hand. The Pub Lab series was born out of last season's successful pub readings of the work of Martin McDonagh, followed by partnerships with the UnSaddestFactory Theater Company and VT Dance. The Pub Lab series is produced in part through a "Think Big" grant from Station North Arts & Entertainment, Inc.

Susanna Gellert, Artistic Producer of CENTERSTAGE, says, "We are thrilled about this partnership that allows us to join with Baltimore area artists in a casual and fun atmosphere where we can collectively explore how we share our work with each other and with the greater community. The Pub Labs provide a great opportunity to expand the conversation between local artists and audiences in a unique and inviting Station North setting."

The Pub Labs are founded on the idea that Baltimore arts organizations should strive to support one another's ideas and institutions: in coming together, we are all made stronger. The goal of the Pub Lab series is therefore to foster relationships with and among Baltimore arts organizations, creating an opportunity for the sharing of resources while spearheading the development of new work and new kinds of

performance.

The first two events in the series will be July 15 and August 7, hosted at Liam Flynn's Ale House, 22 W. North Avenue. Both are free and open to the public.

Sunday, July 15, 7 pm – withhart.dance.projects

Join up-and-coming choreographer Lauren Withhart and members of her company for a probing, evocative exploration of public and private spaces through dance and discussion. Withhart.dance.projects will present excerpts from several pieces in its repertoire, giving the audience an opportunity to dive into the main thematic elements of its work. They'll dance, we'll watch, we'll talk, we'll drink.

withhart.dance.projects is a project-based dance company in Baltimore that fosters unique collaborations among visual and performance artists, presenting works that challenge traditional perspective and confront audience experiences through visceral environments. w.d.p develops solo, duet, and small ensemble works that encompass daring athleticism, gesture, spoken word, and theatrical design.

Tuesday, August 7, 7 pm – Baltimore Rock Opera Society

Baltimore Rock Opera Society is getting ready to dig into MURDERCASTLE, a new rock opera full of black metal and murderous mayhem. BROS first foray into history, MURDERCASTLE revolves around the story of H.H. Holmes, the infamous serial killer who committed his dark deeds in the shadow of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. Join BROS and their extended network of friends for an evening of beer and entertainment, as they begin to craft some truly dark material set in 19th Century Chicago. The event will feature skits, presentations, dancing, images, and more to help spur creative discussions about the world of MURDERCASTLE.

Baltimore Rock Opera Society was founded in 2007 by a troupe of actors, writers, musicians, and artists with the sole mission of producing original, live rock operas in Baltimore. Since its inception, BROS has produced four original full-length rock operas, in addition to smaller performances and several appearances at Baltimore's Artscape festival and DC's H Street Festival.

This Pub Lab is made possible in part by support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, creator of the Baker Artist Awards, www.bakerartistawards.com, and Station North Arts & Entertainment, Inc., www.stationnorth.org.
