Baltimore Theatre Alliance Announces A New Executive Director, Upcoming Opportunies And More

The Baltimore Theater Alliance's new executive director issued this statement: Happy New Year! I'm Mark Beachy, the new Executive Director of the Baltimore Theatre Alliance. The BTA is dedicated to supporting and promoting theater in the greater Baltimore area. As Executive Director I will continue this mission, bringing together the talents of our outstanding board members, advisory committees, community leaders, theatre goers, and members like you!

Just to tell you a little big about myself, in 1996 I was the winner of the WMAR-TV ABC News Channel 2 and Pumpkin Theatre Baltimore Bicentennial Playwriting contest where my musical, "'Bout Baltimore" was produced as a 1-hour television special. Beginning in 1999, I served as the founder and producer of the Baltimore Children's Theatre and have directed/choreographed over 40 productions. As a professional actor, I have appeared as "Officer Nunham" on TV's America's Most Wanted's Top Cops 2009 and "Alexander T. Crane" in a Japanese TV documentary about Edgar Allan Poe. Most recently, I was "Jerry Baldwin" on I Was Dead on Discovery Health. When not acting, I can be seen attending shows and writing about them as the performing arts reporter for the Baltimore Examiner Online.

STAGE MANAGER NEEDED
Baltimore Shakespeare Festival is looking for an experienced non-equity stage manager for their upcoming Teen Performance Program production of Measure for Measure, directed by Tony Tsendeas. Rehearsal begin this Friday, January 8th. Rehearsal schedule: Fridays 5-9pm, Sat/Sun 11am-3pm. Tech week: February 7-11with opening night Friday, February 12th. Performances continue February 13-14 and 18-21; Thurs/Fri/Sat at 8:00; Sun at 5pm. This is a paid position. SOUND BOARD OPERATOR NEEDED
Greenbelt Arts Center's production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses is looking for someone to run sound during these performances. The show opens this Friday and runs until January 30th. Even if you can only do this for part of the run, your help is greatly appreciated. STAGE MANAGER NEEDED
The Strand Theater Company is seeking a Production Stage Manager with professional or college level experience for The Mai by Marina Carr. Rehearsals will be held on weeknights, beginning the week of February 8th, with weekend rehearsals if necessary. The production runs April 16th-May 9th, 2010. Stage Managers are given a $100 stipend. STAGE MANAGER NEEDED
Silver Spring Stage and needs a production stage manager and a lightboard op. "The show is Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman." The first tech rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 10, with rehearsals that week leading up to opening night. It is, unfortunately, pay free - Silver Spring Stage is all volunteer. However, I will happily ply anyone willing to help us out with drinks. Murder Mystery
