Imagination Stage Announces Tribute Performane to Senator Inouye, 3/6

With the support of Hawaii Congressional delegation and Japanese-American Members of Congress, Imagination Stage is paying homage to the late Senator Daniel Inouye witha special performance of Anime Momotaro. Prior to his death, Senator Inouye graciously agreed to serve as the honorary patron of Anime Momotaro in recognition of the unique collaboration between Imagination Stage and Honolulu Theatre for Youth.

This special tribute performance of Anime Momotaro for the late Senator Daniel Inouyewill be performed in Imagination Stage's Annette M. and Theodore N. Lerner Family Theatre March 6, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 for orchestra seats and $15 for balcony seats, and may be purchased online at www.imaginationstage.org, at the Imagination Stage box office, or via phone at 301-280-1660.

Daniel Inouye was Hawaii's first full member of the U.S. House of Representatives, taking office the same day Hawaii became a state. He later went on to serve in the U.S. Senate, becoming the highest-ranking Asian American politician in U.S. history. A Nisei Japanese-American, Senator Inouye took great pride in his heritage and worked tirelessly on behalf of the Japanese-American community.

The performance is sponsored by Mitsubishi International Corporation, NTT, Nomura, Sony, and Toyota. A reception and meet-and-greet with the actors will follow the performance. Proceeds from this event will support Imagination Stage's professional theatre and arts education programs which serve over 100,000 children and their families each year.

Anime Momotaro was adapted from the traditional Japanese folktale by Alvin Chan, Eric Johnson, and Honolulu Theatre for Youth. Told in the popular style of anime, this action-packed, East Coast premiere teaches powerful lessons about inner strength and the ability to stand up against bullying.
